Senior managers, FMs and Security managers are invited to join members of the Met police’s Protective Security Operations team for a Project Argus event.
2017 saw a number of devastating terrorist attacks in the UK; Westminster, Manchester, London Bridge & Borough Market and Finsbury Park. They have all dramatically highlighted the need for businesses of all sizes to plan how they deal with the disruption caused by a major crisis, emergency or incident.
It is evermore a priority that all our businesses are given the opportunity to participate in this type of event.
The session will feature a table top, multimedia simulation of an attack where delegates will be faced with a series of questions and dilemmas to resolve, both individually and collectively. It will also include a module of a weapons type of attack, much like what we have seen in Paris and Tunisia. The workshop will provide businesses with a unique opportunity to learn how to protect themselves, their staff and customers, whether a national chain or a small business.
‘Project Argus’ is aimed at senior managers in businesses located within crowded places in urban settings. Project Argus can confer benefits in terms of raising awareness about the threat from terrorism and provides practical advice on preventing, handling and recovering from an attack.
The event will provide you with the unique opportunity to: –
• Work with like-minded businesses on how to reduce your vulnerability
• Work directly with experts from the emergency services in understanding their response to an incident, counter terrorism security measures and business continuity.
• Combine the efforts of businesses in the local area to help each other recover after an incident.
• Develop an incident / business continuity plan.
• Increase your awareness on counter terrorism issues.
This is very important work, which will enable you and your business to respond more effectively following a serious incident in your area. We urge you to take this opportunity to help you prepare for such an incident. Due to demand and the fact that we have previously held a Project Argus at the park, this event will be the last of its kind at Stockley Park.
If we could please ask that you confirm your attendance by emailing Julie, if you haven’t already committed, detailing names of delegates and their position within your organisation. Although the event is free it does comes at a significant cost to the Metropolitan Police Service. Therefore, if you confirm your attendance please ensure you do actually attend on the day. If numbers aren’t high enough we will have to cancel.
